How the world forgets

This is what Fox History mentioned about the LTTE in the new program they are telecasting on International Terrorism “The Tamil Tigers are one of the deadliest and most ruthless terrorists organisations the world has ever known. Since embarking on their campaign of violence in the early 1980s, they have killed almost 60,000 people – more than the rest of the world’s terrorist organisations put together – and displaced hundreds of thousands of Sri Lankans. The Tigers are fighting to win independence for the Tamil provinces in the North East of Sri Lanka, a large island formerly known as Ceylon situated in the Indian Ocean 40 miles off the mainland coast of India. In the name of their cause, they stop at nothing – including the use of suicide bombers, blowing up ancient buildings, attacking troop convoys and slaughtering innocent villagers. Their victims also number several leading politicians, the most high profile of which was the assassination of the Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, killed by a female suicide bomber in May 1991. The key to ending the long and bloody conflict is still seen to be the terrorist leader, Velupillai Prabhakaran. But unless he disbands the Tigers and the Sri Lankan government recognise the Tamil’s claim to independence, a settlement seems as far away as ever.”

Yes the LTTE has killed more than 60,000 people more than all other terrorist groups put together! Whilst watching the program the past 30 years of carnage created by this monstrous force flashed before me.

Here are a few:

2006 Bombing of the transit point in Digampathaha, Dambulla which was one reason the GOSL cancelled the peace accord – casualties 90+

July 2004 – Bombing of the BIA the largest terrorist attack in the history of Aviation (Aviation safety net)  - estimated loss U$ 400 million

October 1991 – Palliyagodella.  Massacre of Muslim civilians – casualties 100+

August 1990 – Kattankudy Mosque Massacre which killed 140+ men and boys attending prayers

June 1990 – LTTE killed 400 – 600 Police personnel who surrendered after they overran the camps after breaking the ceasefire

May 1985 – LTTE shot women, children, monks who were at the Anuradhapura bus station and the Sri Maha Bodhi shrine – casualties 140+

November 1984 – Kent and  Dollar Farm massacres in which survivers claimed the LTTE killing children by bashing their heads on walls – casualties 62

The above is only a few as the list can build another blog. The LTTE supporting diaspora has forgotten the carnage they are responsible for, which they help fund. It is surprising how they have the balls to go to the streets and accuse the Sinhala people of being racial when they supported the LTTE to carryout ethnic cleansing or sometimes kill their own!!
