Who is M.I.A. aka Maya

I have heard many speaking of her and the controversial interviews. Well during this time I managed to research on this phenomenon named . This video interview she did in January 2009 on PBS is far more critical of Sri Lanka.

She claims in the interview that there are 4,000 tamil tigers who are not militarly advanced and can be wiped off by the million soldiers of the SL government. Instead the GOSL is using the LTTE as a pretext to wipe off the Tamils in the country! I think many were enlightened of the powers of the non militarily advanced LTTE, unless she thinks a navy with submarines, air power and modern ground warfare equipment does not make a advanced fighting force.

Also she claims the international community thinks all Tamils are LTTE. Well could you blame them? It is the Tamil Diaspora (only some not all) who have protest waving the LTTE flag don’t they? Isn’t it the Tamil Diaspora who let their children destroy embassies and also cloth them in the LTTE flag? Also didn’t the LTTE get funding from the Diaspora in the pretext of guarding the lives of the Tamil people?

Maya you should visit the country again and see for yourself how the LTTE used the funding to protect the Tamil people?

A brief on Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam, you can decide what her agenda is or is she just a spokes women to another terrorist organisation?

She was born in the U.K. and when she was six months her father decided to come and support the Tamil militancy in the island.  She was born in 1975 which means she came to the island early 1976 with her father Arul Pragasam. The 8 years of displacement she speaks of wouldn’t be due to war. Her father was a founding member of EROS (The Eelam Revolutionary Organisation of Students) which means he came down to change the view of and start a subversive movement using students. They are now conveniently renamed as the Eelam Revolutionary Organisers.

With the escalation of the war after 83 which means she only experienced hardship the last two years of her 8 years. Both she and her mother was packed to India for safety as done by many tamil terrorist leaders.  They later fled to UK as refugees. She’s proud to call herself a refugee which resulted in what her father was instrumental in starting.

EROS was the first organisation to start links with Abu Jihad of the PLO and setup training camps to train Tamil youth in warfare. They intern opened these camps to train other tamil groups such as TELO, EPRLF, PLOTE and the LTTE. Even Velupillai Prabhakaran got his initial military training from EROS! EROS was also the first group to get training in India in 1983.

EROS was the first to carry out a bomb attack in Colombo killing 113 and injuring more than 300 people. It wasn’t the LTTE

The tables turned once the LTTE grew powerful militarily with the confidence after fighting with IPKF (Indian Peace Keeping Force) and ordered EROS to join forces with them. The forces who feared the LTTE joined the Government to protect their hyde which transformed TELO, EPRLF and PLOTE being legitimate political parties.  These groups also helped the Indian army and the intelligence to weed out LTTE members from IDP camps.  With these acts the LTTE was further strengthened as it won the hearts of the displaced tamil people when the others were being judged as traitors.

EROS though militarly not present are a formidable group internationally. In January 2009 Arular Arudpragasam the Sectary General of EROS & EDF called upon the LTTE :  ”Taking into consideration the disability of LTTE to transform itself into a democratic force and subject itself to the will of the Tamil people, EROS calls on LTTE that it disbands itself at the earliest opportunity, take advantage of the paradigm shift offered by the agenda of Resurgent EROS and transform itself into a democratic force. To effect this, EROS calls on LTTE to pave the way for the functioning of EDF in Vanni, so that those willing to join EDF can do so. The EDF as political party, committed fully to democratic path of struggle, will provide opportunity for past members of LTTE, if they so wish, to join the new agenda of EROS and work toward a peaceful settlement to the ethnic conflict.” (Click to read full article)

No question that MIA is a talented artist, but one should wonder what her agenda in relations to promoting terrorism is.
